About

The Story

RecordRanks began as a passion project back in 2023, originally developed for Cubing Contests - the website and community for competitive events for twisty puzzles (puzzles like the Rubik's Cube). Since then, it has played a major role in the speedcubing community, with well over 1000 competitions held to date, 12,000+ unique competitors and 36,000+ results in total. It has even been used in some of the biggest Rubik's Cube competitions in history, like the Rubik's WCA World Championship 2025 and the European Championship 2024 and 2026, where hundreds of the world’s best speedcubers competed in a range of side events, hosted on Cubing Contests side-by-side with the official World Cube Association competition.

Then, in 2026, the software was rebranded as RecordRanks and extended to be able to support all kinds of competitive events and sports communities. After all, if it's able to serve the needs of the speedcubing community so well, why not do the same for other communities and organisations?

The Mission

The main aim of RecordRanks is to best serve the needs of up-and-coming sports communities and provide them the tools they need for growth. We know how hard it can be to manage lots of tournaments and competitors, keep track of results, records, brackets, etc., or maintain a reliable moderation process for your competitive events. For that reason, we made RecordRanks easy to use and highly customisable, to best fit the needs of your sport. We understand the difficulties in growing a new sports community and keeping competitors engaged, so we're here to help!

"Is it right for me?"

RecordRanks is right for you if you want to kickstart a new sports community, even something as small as a university or school club, or if you have ambitions to scale your existing sport to thousands of competitors and attract much more interest, while automating most of your processes. The best thing about RecordRanks is its flexibility and scalability, which means that you can rely on it from the very early days of your sport all the way to the point where you're holding major-championship-level international events with thousands of attendees and more results flowing through the system than you can count!

It works exceptionally well for performance-based sports, where every competitor gets a tangible result, like running, powerlifting, different kinds of racing, robotics events, speedrunning and other forms of results-based competitive gaming, or indeed mind sports like speedcubing. For these kinds of sports RecordRanks automatically calculates live standings in every round, World records, regional records, and rankings, with all sorts of ways of sorting and filtering the data, which is crucial functionality for recognising the achievements of competitors. However, RecordRanks is also very well suited for head-to-head sports, with a flexible tournament brackets system coming very soon!

If that sounds like what your community needs, why not try RecordRanks for free today?
